I have dedicated 45 years of my life to developing methods to help people with reading difficulties. During years of unpaid scientific research in the 1970’s, I created a teaching system that provides a progressive solution to reading problems. I call this system ‘Toe By Toe’, as the learning stages and progress are too fine to be called ‘step by step’. Since its publication in 1994, the Toe By Toe reading manual has taught over 500,000 children and adults how to overcome their reading difficulties. My research into reading difficulties resulted in two more successful workbooks: Stride Ahead (students improve their reading fluency and comprehension) and Stareway To Spelling (students learn how to spell the 300 most used words).– Keda Cowling, Author of Toe-By-Toe & Founder of Keda Publications.
Toe By Toe“Before Toe By Toe, I was living in a deep dark hole. Everyone else understood things and I didn’t. When I was given the book, I felt a rope ladder had been thrown down to me. It didn’t have any rungs I had to build them myself and that has taken time.
Now I feel I’m near the top and I can see daylight. I feel sorry for anyone stuck at the bottom.”Edward Charlton (aged 10), Nantwich, Cheshire“My son – now 13-years old – was tested by an Oxford professor 6 years ago for dyslexia – she recommended this book and it saved my son’s education. Yes, you do have to sit down together and work through the book but the outcome is out of this world. My son is now in the top set for English and I still cannot quite believe it. In primary school I was told he would struggle just to keep up with the bottom percentage of children. If you have a gut feeling that your child is failing through the education system and that the teaching is not helping, then please buy, rent or get your nearest library to order a copy.
My son is now a ‘Level 7’ student and I put it all down to this book and the professor in Oxford who told us that dyslexia is a small word for a whole range of little problems” – Mrs V.
Stride Ahead. Stride Ahead is written for students who can read but have comprehension difficulties.
